GIVE IT, DON'T BIN IT
Containers for Change is trialling new Container Exchange Points in public spaces to provide a simple solution to minimise the number of containers going to landfill.
Installed in partnership with local councils, these baskets and docking stations attach to existing bins. Instead of throwing your empty containers into the general rubbish, you can use Container Exchange Points to do your bit for the environment and help the local community.
The containers can be picked up by someone who wants them and returned to a refund point nearby. The collector may choose to keep the 10-cent refunds for themselves or donate it to a charity or community group.
How it works
Drop them
When you are out and about, check the general waste bin to see if there is a Container Exchange Point attached. If you have an empty 10-cent container, drop it off.
Collect them
Fancy yourself a container collector? Eligible containers left at container exchange points are free to collect and return to a refund point for 10 cents each.
Renew them
By dropping or collecting containers at a container exchange point, you'll be saving them from landfill and giving them a chance at becoming something new.
